The Huguenots sailed into the bay in the late 1500's, fleeing
from France because of their religious beliefs. .After
they established a small settlement, building with local volcanic
stone, they decided the configuration of the land and sea reminded
them of their homeland.. They named it Dieppe. .The other French were not
to discover St. Kitts until several years into the 1600's.
At the water's edge was a combination warehouse and shop,
atop which lived the owner and family.
In 1963 the Golden Lemon opened it's doors to it's first guests as a welcoming vacation destination and never looked back.
"The
Golden Lemon is the best place I ever stayed. My room opening on
the verandah was sublimely comforatble, the bathroom had loads of thick
towels, the staff was eager to please, food and drink plentiful and
delicious, and the two charming and witty owners a joy to meet and keep
as friends. I look forward to my next stay in 2006" -- Reilly, NYC, March 2005
